Dieffenbachia
Dieffenbachia seguine · Houseplant
A fast-growing foliage plant with large leaves splashed in cream and green. It handles medium light well and forgives an occasional missed watering. Its sap irritates skin and mouth, so place it out of reach of pets and small children.

Step by step
- Choose a spot with bright, filtered light; variegation fades in deep shade.
- Water thoroughly, then wait until the top layer dries before watering again.
- Rotate the pot every few weeks so it grows evenly.
- Feed monthly in spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer.
- Wipe leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust.
- Wear gloves when pruning or handling cut stems and wash hands afterward.
- Cut back bare stems in spring; new shoots appear below the cut.
